Devils Marbles

21Nov08

This shot was taken when Caz and I were traveling around Oz. We had just come from Queensland and were cutting back through the red centre back to Perth. The location was Devils Marbles, just north of Alice Springs. This was a fun photo, taken on the spur of the moment with a little 1 megapixel Olympus. Every time I look this photo, I remember the fun and laughs we shared on the trip.

This photograph was taken for my sister. She loves the industrial beauty of the Fremantle harbour, the contrast of the red cranes against the sky and on its day, the calm water within.

This was taken just after sunrise once the warm colours of the sun had faded. I am really happy with the sharpness in this photograph, it has incredible detail when viewing the large print.

This is one famous little boatshed, I think possibly one of the most photographed scenes in Perth. Still, I’m yet to see exactly this composition of it though.

I really like symmetry and was going for balance in this shot.

This photograph was a 30 second exposure taken before sunrise. The street light behind lit the boardwalk out to the boatshed and give it a beautiful, vibrant colour.

Just spent a lovely week up on Broome basking in the sun! One day I popped out to Willie Creek pearl farm for a look. While out there I jumped on a helicopter (all 4 minutes of it!) to check out the land from above. The colours of the water are amazing in this part of the country, a solid milky turquoise, its just beautiful. We get nothing like this down the south west so it really made an impact on me.

This photograph is of the old jetty right near the main Busselton Jetty. Its one of my earlier photos but still one of my favorites. I like the warm tones from the sun’s rays and the green and purple tones in the water. There were some cool clouds around this day which were moving very fast, the whole scene was constantly changing every few minutes.

1200 km north of Perth, 200km 4wd track, 5km hike down the coast line, 100 meter climb…. and some little beetle has trekked his way across this beautiful sand dune. Awesome!

Beach Grass

11Oct08

This is another shot taken at Rottnest Island, near Little Parakeet Bay. Something really appeals to me about beach grass in the sand. I love the simplicity, contrast and long shadows cast late in the day.

White beaches, turquoise water, rich blue sky… this is what Rottnest Island is all about! It’s a little paradise so accessible from Perth, yet so unspoilt. I thought these 3 photographs would make a nice set.

Redgate Beach

10Oct08

This shot was taken earlier this year when a huge swell was hitting the southwest. Redgate is a beautiful little beach just south of Margaret River and cops the swell when its in. A few brave surfers were out lapping it up!

This photograph was taken last weekend out near Toodjay. It was a beautiful sunny day with scattered clouds hanging about all day. Found this great little range of hills, so I sat and watched the clouds roll over lighting up different parts of the land. With a little patience, soon enough the hills were nicely lit up by the sunshine.
